The health ministry has declared that 4+1 yr rotational compoulsary paid internship course will be effective from this year which was removed for 1 yr.
What does this mean:
- Internship is again included for the 2008-09 batch, who are the students passing out from 3rd year and going to 4th yr.
- The 2007-08 batch is the one at loss with no internship.
- SSemester Wise examinations starting from the 2007-08 batch with 2 semesters having 4 subjects each
This is what is given in the DCI website:
“BREAKING NEWS – Curriculum Reforms in Revised BDS Course Regulations, 2007 – Approval of the Govt. of India, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare –
All the concerned authorities are hereby informed that on the recommendations of the Dental Council of India, the Govt. of India, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare vide its letter No. V.12012/3/2006-DE dated 24.08.2011 have conveyed its approval on DCI Revised BDS Course (3rd Amendment) Regulations, 2011 to re-introduce the 4+1 year rotational compulsory paid internship in BDS Course w.e.f. the academic year 2011-12 i.e. from the batches admitted during the year 2008-09. The aforesaid amendment is being published in the Official Gazette of India, Extraordinary, Part-III, Section 4 in due course of time and after duly notified it shall come into force from the date of its publication. The said notification shall be placed in the DCI website also.

Is it Good News or Bad news for the Students:
It is good news for the students as Internship is the span of time when you can learn and know what Clinical life is going to be in the future.

The 2007-08 batch is the only year which has lost the chance to have Internship in their BDS career. Sorry to say but 2007-08 are the only experimental specimens to be at loss.
what about the papaers of 4th and 5th year? how it will adjust? what about the community dentistry in 3rd year of previous course??

its request to the concerned authority to take semister wise exam for 08 batch students for their final year …….
plz plz keep it semester wise…its very difficult to study all 8 subjcts in 1 go..n community dentistry is quite lengthy 1..plzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Hi All, I just want to know whether your college have agreed to giving internship to 2008-2009 batch, as according to the latest amendment by DCI, its entirely the will of the college to give internship or not.My college has not agreed to give the internship.Pls let me know what is the action other colleges are undertaking.

2) 5years course with integrated certificate
3)4@1/2+ 1 year internship.
which should we prefer(20007 batch)
among these options which is eligible for further studies.

4 exams in 4th year and 4 exams in 5th year with 6 months of Internship included
im doing my internship right now.. i joined BDS in 2006 , kerala… course duration was supposed to be 4 1/2 + 1 yr internship.. due to some technical reasons , it took 5 and half year to finish final yr( delay from university).. internship started before 7 months.. is ther any rule to cancel this compulsory internship?
No there is no rule to cancel internship
